The aims
- to develop the ability of youth workers to use the youth in action programme as a tool for influencing groups of young people in dealing with diversity in society in a positive way.
- to develop the ability of youth workers to positively influence intolerant groups or groups who have difficulty in dealing with diversity.
- to stimulate participants in developing new projects within the framework of the youth in action programme in all the actions
- to present the youth in action programme as a tool for raising personal and international competences.
Objectives of the training course
1. Understand how intolerance and difficulties in dealing with diversity can be seen as inherently in development fases of groups and individuals.
2. Know how to use this understanding in developing strategies in stimulating evolution in groups and individuals.
3. Experience and understand how the different aspects of a group can be instruments for stimulating evolution in this group.
4. Learn more about their your favorite style(s) in dealing with groups.
5. Practice with alternative styles in dealing with groups and individuals.
Learn how to integrate point 1 to 5 in your daily work with young people at home
Who are we looking for
- people who are actively working with young people as a professional or voluntary youth worker.
- youth workers who have experience in working with intolerant youngsters or will be working with them.
- people who have a positive attitude towards young people, even if they have some intolerant views or difficulties with diversity.
- people who are willing to reflect on their way of working and have the intention to set up projects within the framework of the youth in action programme as a tool for stimulating young people in their development.
- participants are at least 18 years of age and are able to communicate in english.
- participants should have an active attitude!
How many participants will there be
25 participants from Youth in Action programme countries. A great diversity in background of the participants can be an extra learning experience.
How we will do it
- living learning: the theoretical input (minimal) will be as practical as possible. All the insights will be linked to the experiences with the international group or the experiences of the youth workers in their daily work at home.
- group work, discussion, workshops, self reflection, exchange the experiences you have in your day to day work and work on concrete future project plans exchange of experience, outdoor activities or an excursion.
