Studietur til Japan i oktober og november 2007
Den japanske utenriksdepartement inviterer unge mennesker mellom 18-35 år på 10-dagers studietur til Japan. Formålet er å styrke samarbeid mellom Japan og de europeiske land. Søknadsfrist: 31. mai 2007.

Study Tour of Japan for European Youth 2007
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan invites young Europeans to participate in a ten-day group study tour of Japan in October or November 2007. The purpose of the tour in the short term is to inspire an enduring interest in Japan by giving participants an introduction to Japan that touches on politics, the economy, culture, society etc. It is hoped that in the longer term, the deeper understanding of Japan gained by the participants of this tour will help them to contribute to the strengthening of ties between Japan and European countries in the future.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
(1) Be a national of the following countries:
Andorra (application at the Japanese Embassy in France), Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus (application at the Embassy in Greece), Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein (application at the Embassy in Switzerland), Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta (application at the Embassy in Italy), Monaco (application at the Embassy in France), the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino (application at the Embassy in Italy), Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, the United Kingdom, or apply as an *“EU applicant”
* To apply as an “EU applicant” you must work as a fonctionnaires or stagiaires within an EU Institution e.g. the Commission, the Council, the Parliament etc. as well as being a national of one of the 27 Member States.
(2) Be aged 18-35 as of 1 June 2007
(3) Be able to communicate effectively in English
(4) Other requirements:
- Applicants must have never been to Japan and must have no plans to visit Japan in the near future
- Applicants must be enthusiastic, sociable and well suited to group activities
(1) Duration (plan)
10 days
Group A: 10th to 20th October 2007
Group B: 7th to 17th November 2007
(2) Number of Participants
60 people in total (30 people in each)
(3) Planned Activities
(A) An introduction to the culture, economy and politics of Japan from both traditional and modern perspectives through lectures, visits and so on
(B) Discussions with young Japanese people
(C) Visits to various cities across Japan
(D) Stay with a host family.
Applications should include (1) a CV with (2) a cover letter and (3) a short essay (one page in A4-sized paper, single-spaced) in English on one of the following:
"Present a known Japanese social problem and give an explanation as to how it could be solved."
or:
"What bonds do you consider tie Norway and Japan together?"
Applicants must apply to the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General in the country of which they are a national (even if currently residing in another country).
*“EU applicants” are requested to send their applications to the Mission of Japan to the European Union in Brussels.
Deadline Applications must be received on the 31st May 2007 at the latest.
